Frequently Asked Questions

Where Does Coaching Happen?

We meet virtually via Zoom (or on the phone). When I was in crippling pain, I would definitely have appreciated not having to leave the house to get this kind of help. So you will always be able to do this from the comfort of your own home, wherever you may call home. (Another nice benefit of Zoom is that it does not matter where you live - my clients come from all over! Massachusetts, California, Canada, Australia, the UK, Denmark, etc. As long as we can make the time differences work, we’re golden.)

If you are local to the Boston MA area and are interested in meeting in person, please let me know. I’m starting up an in person branch of my practice for local clients.

When & How Frequently Would We Meet?

Each 1:1 session is 50 minutes, and we typically meet weekly for the first 5 sessions. Beyond the first 5 sessions, we will space our meetings out so that there is at least 2 weeks between each meeting. This way, you can practice on your own and increase your own sense of agency, empowerment, and independence.

Most clients do between 5-10 sessions, with an average of about 8 sessions. A very small number of clients do longer-term coaching with me, and I am fully booked for taking on any new longer-term clients.

What Does It Cost?

  • 1:1 Coaching: For new clients, the initial package of 5 50-minute sessions is $900 (the non-discounted per-session rate is $190). Keep in mind: Investing in your health primes you to spend the time and energy it takes to yield the most healing benefits for you. This is not like therapy, which can be ongoing for quite some time. This work is designed to be time-limited skills-building. The goal is your independence so you don’t need someone like me for too long! Most clients report positive and profound shifts, even after only a few sessions.

  • Group Coaching: TBA. My current groups are full, but I am collecting names for future group coaching.  Email me if you are interested in group coaching. My next group will run for 3 months with 1.5 hour meetings every week.

  • My Free or Low Cost Resources: I believe this field should be more financially accessible to the people who need it than is currently the case. So please check out my growing list of Free Resources, a free 6 week trial of Curable, or one of my $20 Drop-in Q & A sessions

What if I Can’t Afford It?

I want to reach the people who most need and want to do this work, and so I offer sliding scale to some clients. Don’t hesitate to ask.

In the meantime, please check out my FREE resources for client page for a huge list of resources of all kinds, from educational videos and research articles to somatic tracking recordings and podcast & book recommendations.

I also encourage you to check out Curable (where I am a facilitator for Curable Groups and can share a free 6 week trial to the app if interested), or do Alan Gordon’s free 21 day program, or sign up for support at Lin Health.

You can also check out group coaching options or purchasing personalized recordings (somatic tracking, relaxation, body scans, etc.).

All of the above options will cost less overall than private individual sessions.

Is 1:1 Coaching like Therapy?

No.  I am a certified pain reprocessing and mindbody coach and not a mental health or medical professional.  So our work together will consist of my teaching you skills, helping you develop an effective practice, talking through your challenges, offering reframes, and supporting you as you work toward your goals for healing and personal transformation in your life.

Please Note: If in our conversations it becomes clear that there are serious issues for which you need but do not yet have a mental health and/or medical professional (such as sexual assault history, severe depression / anxiety or PTSD, substance abuse, or suicidal ideation), I will pause seeing you until you get the help you need from the appropriate professional.

How Does Group Coaching Work?

The group coaching classes are taught remotely via Zoom.  You can add your name to the interest list for future groups and classes.  The groups usually meet together weekly in real time for 1.5 hours anywhere from 8-12 weeks. During groups, I teach the 4 pillars of The Sage Practice (Safety - Agency - Gratitude - Engagement), give you plenty of resources, and suggest what you can do at home to enhance your learning.  I facilitate our discussions, and these are always engaging and often sociological conversations that help you learn from & support one another. It is the people in the group themselves that enrich the group experience and give the group its real value.
